Working with my clients this week, the theme of being “crazy busy” has come up.
But deeper than just being busy there’s an underlying sense of life being a little crazy and overwhelming….
….like life is happening around you and you’re there to make sure you fulfill your role as employee, company owner, wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend [fill in the blank] leaving you at the bottom of the pile.
When life becomes a job, with you there to make everyone else happy and leaving yourself out of the equation, that’s when you can start to feel resentful, angry and quite frankly lose it.
Last week I shared with you how an ex-colleague’s passing got me thinking about the really important things in life (if you didn’t catch the video blog: check out the missing link to fulfilment and success).
I feel really strongly about supporting you to take back the control of your life and career so that you live a life that matters – not just to yourself but to others too.
Stop with the crazy making and start focusing on what you DO want and what TRULY matters.
If you find yourself feeling like so much is happening around you and you can’t find your feet or find that your goals and priorities are at the bottom of the list…then it’s time to get back in the driving seat of your of your life and career.

Today I want to talk to you about taking back control.
I want to talk about the single biggest thing you can do to stop yourself from being a victim of your circumstances.
The truth is there are a lot of things in our life we can’t control.
Getting a health condition.
Losing a job.
A financial crisis.
An economic crisis.
These things are seemingly are not controllable.
We can do things to ensure that they don’t happen like exercise, looking after our health, becoming so invaluable at work that we become indispensable and we can save and invest our money as best we can.
But the truth is there area lot of variables out there.
Rather than worrying about what could go wrong and being a victim of circumstance the best thing you can do is to take back control and know that you are a creative person.
You have the ability to change things.
It all starts with your mindset.
What you believe you will create.
What you focus on is where your energy goes.
Rather than worrying about what could go wrong and planning your contingency plan I invite you to focus on what you can do that’s within your control.
What IS possible for you?
The truth is that many things can go wrong and you can mitigate as best you can.
But if you put more attention and intention into your Plan B rather than your Plan A then you’re going to be more prepared for your Plan B scenario.
Have you ever done this?
Maybe you interview for a dream job at your ideal company (Company A) but you say I’ll be OK with getting a job at Company B.
Lo and behold you get your job at Company B instead of Company A.
That’s because you were planning for Company B and you said that was your minimum goal and that you’d be happy with that.
So rather than focusing on Plan B, I encourage you to focus on your Plan A.
What is it that you truly desire?
What career you really really want?
Is it staying in corporate?
Is it starting a business?
Here are 3 steps to getting back in the driver’s seat of your life and career.
Step 1: Get clear on what’s important to you.
Step 2: Trust that you have the ability to make it happen.
Step 3: Take back control by fixing your mindset.
Your beliefs control you.
If you don’t know the beliefs that are running the show – message me I can help with that.
You need to think through what you believe.
If you think getting a job with Company A is impossible guess what?
The hiring folks at Company A are going to sniff you out in the interview and they’ll know that’s true.
You’ve got to take back control.
People feel your energy subconsciously and know whether you’re going for something for real or if you’re scared/doubtful.
People will pick up on it.
Own the fact that you’re a creative person, you can create absolutely anything that you want to.
Put more emphasis on your Plan A and know that you can make it happen.
Don’t stress too much about Plan B. Why? Because at the end of the day you’re going to be OK.
Wish you all a beautiful week.
