Last week I was down with a virus. It didn’t just last for a couple of days. It took me out for the whole week.
As a result I was really bummed out. On the way back from New York, I’d imagined my first week back:
• Hanging out with my kids
• Getting back into the swing of things with my clients and my business
• Taking part in a trail race I’d been training for
But it didn’t work out that way.
It can be frustrating when things don’t go according to plan.
Can you relate?
As frustrating as it was, it got to a point when I surrendered.
I knew that fighting it and trying to “push through” wasn’t helping me to get better. And I knew that if I wanted to be 100% there for my kids, my clients, my business…I had to get well first.
So I let go.
No to-do’s. No agenda’s. I cancelled my client calls (thank you for understanding!)
And it didn’t take long. I got better so much more quickly.
Plus having some quiet time really got my creative juices going for a new program I’m working on. Bonus!
We’ve been taught to battle things out. To push through. Persevere. Suck it up.
But if that tactic isn’t serving you and making you feel worse, then I invite you to try surrendering.
Sometimes we just need to allow ourselves a break, some support and self-acceptance for where we’re at.
Simply cutting ourselves a little slack is just what we need to heal, find a solution and get our answers.
If you: Are in a job that you hate and struggling through the day-to-day.
Try: Admitting to yourself that it sucks. Allow yourself a little pity-party. Cry. Vent. Rage. Allow yourself to feel those crappy feelings. That way you can move on and get them out of your system.
Then Try: Asking yourself, “What is the lesson I need to learn from this situation?”
By asking this question, you will look for the good in the situation rather than focusing on the negative.
Perhaps you need to learn to say no more. Or stand up for yourself. Or switch careers. Tune in and get your answers.
Now I’d love to hear from you:
• What do you do when things don’t go according to plan?
• Do you have a trick or solution to share that helps you get back on track?

Wishing you a beautiful weekend.
