The half term holidays are rolling around next week and I can’t believe that we’ve only got 3 months left of the year to go.
I don’t know about you but the other day I found myself feeling a little angsty that I hadn’t achieved “enough” yet.
I, like so many women that I work with, have a tendency to be really harsh and judgemental about where I am on my journey…like I should be further head than where I am.
But then I caught myself in my tracks (thanks to all the Rapid Transformational Therapy work I’ve been doing, I was able to catch my thoughts that would otherwise have taken over the better of me)….
And I realised that judging myself wasn’t the answer….
The truth is, if you keep thinking the same thoughts and feeling the same things over and over again (hello nasty voice and inner mean girl) then you’ll just keep creating the same experiences for yourself.
So I decided that rather than beat myself up for not being further along, I’d try a different approach…
If you find yourself feeling like you’re not where you’d like to be and not making progress on the goals that truly matter to you, then come on over and check out this week’s video blog (live from Sai Kung, Hong Kong where I grew up). In the video I share the single most powerful thing you can do to create meaningful change in your life and career so you can rock out the remaining 3 months of 2017.
Watch the video:
Not in a place where you can watch the video?
No problemo! Read on for the transcript.
I wanted to talk about us entering into the last quarter of the year.
There are 3 months left of 2017.
Can you believe how fast it’s gone?
Where’s the time gone? The time really flies.
I invite you to take the opportunity to think about what you want to achieve between now and the end of 2017.
What’s been working?
What’s not been working?
What do you need to change or mix up in order to get there?
If things aren’t going your way and you find that you’re dealing with stress or you haven’t hit certain goals or you haven’t got quite there “yet”….
I invite you to come back into what you can do right now.
I’m currently reading a classic book called “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle.
He talks about how powerful it is to come back into the now to stop the incessant chasing and the incessant needing to do more, be more and have more and to realise that all we really have is the present moment.
Our past does not define us.
Our future is not when we’re going to be happy.
In every moment of every day we have a choice to embrace that.
If life isn’t going your way I invite you to think about what moments, what thoughts and what actions you can take right now in order to get what it is that you want.
Because if you repeat the same things that you’ve been doing in the past, you’re going to get the same outcome.
If you do end up achieving goals that aren’t aligned to what’s really going to make you happy and you’re really looking at your to-do list as a means to get to your goal as opposed to a joy and a process to be savoured, to be learned, to be appreciated then you’re forever going to be chasing.
I think that’s really powerful and poignant.
We can sometimes underestimate the power of the present moment.
We think “Yeah sure, live in the moment but I got bills to pay or I’ve got a really demanding client or my boss is breathing down my neck” but the way to get back to peace and happiness and joy is to really connect to the present moment.
If you’re feeling crappy allow yourself to feel it.
If you feel like you’re not there yet – drop into what is working.
Now is a beautiful time in the year to reflect on what the next 3 months of the year are about for you.
What do you want to achieve? Why?
How can you get back into the present moment to really make sure that you’re living in alignment with whatever it is that you’re looking to achieve?
This is something I’m totally learning with you guys.
I’m definitely not an expert in this. I’m a recovering workaholic that always wants to go-go-going.
I love what I do so much but I can definitely fall into the trap of wanting to be there already.
Sometimes I want to just get to that next goal. To have written that book. To have hosted that workshop.
To have done X, Y, Z.
When really the journey is the joy.
The journey is the process.
Ultimately, why race through to get to the end of our lives when we’re old and on our death beds?
We are here to enjoy the journey.
So come back to the present moment.
Ask yourself what you’re thinking, what you’re feeling and whether you’re truly being in the present moment.
When you’re able to come back to the present…
Like right now I’m standing right there recording this video, I can feel the wind on my face, I can feel the breeze on my back and I’m connected with you right now and sharing this message…
And that’s what brings me joy and gratitude.
I invite you to think about how you can create moments in your life to create joy and fun and alignment. That’s when you’ll get back on the right track and create a different reality and outcome for yourself.
That’s my message for you this week.
Come back into the present moment.
If you haven’t checked out the book by Eckhart Tolle “The Power of Now” I highly recommend it. It’s awesome.
I’ll end with a little view of Sai Kung. It’s a fishing village in Hong Kong. It’s where I actually grew up.
I just finished a workout with my spartan buddies because we’re doing our race in November.
I’ll end on that note guys.
Have a beautiful week!
