When I was in my last corporate job I remember getting the job offer.
In my head I know that I should take it:
It was a great company
It was a great title
It was a great opportunity
On paper, everything appeared to be great but there was an inner voice that was telling me that:
It wasn’t the right fit
I wasn’t taking it for the right reasons
I was probably going to get eaten up alive there
I ultimately didn’t chose to listen to that inner voice.
I thought to myself, “Screw it, I’ll do it, I’ll make it work, watch me.”
I took the offer and I did it.
Whilst I don’t believe there are mistakes in life, I do believe that it wasn’t the right place for me long term.
Whilst that wasn’t the best fit for me. I did learn a lot on the job.
One of the most important learnings from that corporate job wasn’t just the technical expertise I gained on that job but the lesson of listening to my intuition….
Can you relate?
Have you ever felt like you’ve either heard a voice, had an inner feeling or just simply had an inner knowing that something isn’t quite right? Or on the flip side is quite right?
Maybe you’re terrified of listening to it because it’s coming out of no-where and your brain is asking you what the heck is going on?

I was terrified of listening to that voice that was telling me to get out.
The inner voice was my intuition talking…
What is Intuition?
It’s so ethereal when you first start thinking about it.
I believe you should listen to your intuition. It’s the key to fulfillment and happiness and living out your purpose.
The inner knowing that comes to you is inner wisdom and guidance on the right way to go.
We are here to do more than simply pay our bills and live. We’re here to enjoy the human experience. Our intuition will guide us on what’s right for us.
This is why I think that so many of us are unfulfilled.
A recent Gallup study has said that 30% of workers are happy in their jobs and 70% are disengaged.
That is a huge percentage.
Considering how much time we spend at work I think it’s such a shame because we need to be doing something that matters.
It doesn’t have to be world changing or life changing but something that you feel like you’re making a contribution through.
I believe that our intuition guides us on the right path — but many of choose to ignore it.
When you ignore it that’s when you stay further off track, you don’t learn the lessons.
Having said that I don’t believe that there’s one set path.
When I work with my clients I start with the end in mind.
Here are some tips to get you started:
Step #1: Get clear on what you’re striving to achieve
What’s success to you? What feelings does that bring about?
Ultimately that’s what we’re chasing.
The feeling of being a CEO or running a business (or whatever your goal is):
Step #2: Understand the feeling behind what you want to achieve
What feeling will that give you?
For most people it’s about freedom, significance or importance.
These feelings are the guideposts that support you in how to get there and how to start to incorporate some of this success right now.
It’s important so you don’t have to wait 15 years before you can feel like you made it.
Step #3: Listen to your intuition
It all starts with your intuition. Trusting that voice. Exploring where it leads you.
Personally, I’m conducting an experiment at the moment with my intuition.
I’m a practical and rational person so I like to test things out.
What I’ve been doing over the past 2 months is:
- Journalling every day.
- Writing my gratitude list
- Using my intuition to decide what to do in my life and business
- Writing down my ideas
- Writing out my action steps
Looking back I can start to connect the dots and see how ideas make sense.
If you feel that’s something that you need, start your own experiment and follow the 5 steps above.
Start thinking about what your intuition is guiding you towards. Try it out for a week – explore it and see where it takes you.
You can start with baby steps.
Know that your intuition is one of the most powerful ways that you can get back on track towards a fulfilling life and career.
This is how to get back on track and get back to your path and purpose.
Your path is unique to you and that intuition and voice is there for a reason.
Start listening and start trusting.
