Taking the leap from corporate to entrepreneurship can be scary.
Making any change to follow your heart’s true desire (no matter how big or small) can be paralysing – especially if it doesn’t make “practical sense.”
But what I’ve learned is that suffering because of fear is not living.
And the universe has a funny way of forcing you to take action whether you like it or not.
Perhaps you’ll suffer an injury, get sick, be made redundant or go through a break up.
I’ve seen this in my own personal journey and also in my client’s journeys.
I believe that hard times happen to teach us a lesson and we can make a choice.
- To place blame and stay frustrated and angry about what’s being done to us OR
- Let the severity of the situation was over us and ask what is to be learned from the situation happening for us
It’s not always elegant.
It’s not always easy to take responsibility for the events in our life but things do become a lot easier when we embrace the ebbs and flows and make a decision to positively deal with the hand we’ve been dealt.
This is where I see a lot of women getting stuck when it comes to making a positive change in their careers.
They ask questions to cover off on the worst-case scenario:
- What if I fail?
- What will people think?
- What if I’ve wasted all these years?
Instead of asking:
- How much better could things get if I did [start my own business, change careers, become a freelancer]?
- What could I do to set myself up for success?
- What action could I take to start exploring this?
Look, I’m all for being practical and understanding the worst-case scenario.
However I’m equally all for women allowing themselves to see the possibilities and potential rather than shutting themselves off before they’ve even explored their options.
If you’re reading this and contemplating making a career change, then this week’s mantra is for you:
Take your life in your own hands and what happens? A terrible thing – no one to blame :: Erica Jong ::
So, are you ready to take life into your own hands and take responsibility for your actions going forward?
Are you going to look at it as empowering and exciting or as scary and dangerous?
The choice is yours.
Either way, I’ve got your back.
In case you missed my e-Magazine article last week on “Business and Babies” I shared that I’m expecting baby number 3 in June and that I’m only taking on 3 more 1:1 clients for the first half of 2016 (possibly all of 2016).
If you want support to make your dream career or business happen, then make sure you check out the Beyond The Ladder Experience and the exciting new bonus I’ve got for you over HERE. It’s the perfect program to help you explore your career/business dream and positively explore what you can do to make it happen.
I’m opening up space in my diary to speak to you to see if the program is a right fit for where you are right now. You can schedule your complimentary discovery call over HERE.
In the mean time, I’d love to hear from you:
What would your dream career or business look like and what’s holding you back from going for it?
Leave a Comment and let me know. I read every response.
Wishing you a beautiful (and warm!) week.
